Biking the Golden Horseshoe and visiting some great breweries

on Tue, 05/08/2012 - 19:27

Follow us on this trip as we bike and visit some local breweries. Leaving Toronto we ventured off visiting Old Credit Brewing, Cameron's Brewing, Trafalgar Brewery, Nickel Brook and Grand River. We had hoped to visit Niagara's Best Beer as well but the weather turned rough. Head winds and rain made this trip a tough one. Some great craft beer along the way kept us going.

Thanks to all the breweries for inviting me in, it was great to see some of the great beers in Ontario. The interviews done on this trip will be released in the coming months.

Granite Brewery

on Tue, 05/08/2012 - 19:20

Granite brewery is one of Canada's first microbreweries still around today. This became ever more evident through out my talk with Kevin Keefe the brewmaster and founder of Granite Brewery in Halifax. His signature brew, Peculiar is brewed using an open fermentaion process. His beers are available throughout the city and I would also recomend hitting up the brewery its self for a quick peek at where your beer comes from. If your in love with the beer and want to get your hands on it there is also a brewpub owned by Kevin's brother in Toronto.

Propeller Brewery

on Tue, 05/08/2012 - 18:56

One of the last breweries I had the chance to visit before leaving Halifax. Great indepth chat with Andrew and Bobby Zacharias the brewmaster at Propeller brewery

Garrison Brewery

on Tue, 05/08/2012 - 16:48

One of the first breweries I had the chance to visit, this place opened my eyes to the world of craft beer. I arrived early in the morning before the brewery was open allowing me the chance to have a one on one chat with Daniel Girard. He took me through the differnet styles being produced and as well the history around them. I chated with Daniel as he showed me his Jalapenos Ale, Spruce Ale and many of Garrison's other signature brews. This was an amazing brewery to check out located at the historical Pier 21, I would recomend checking this place out when on tour of Halifax.
